To lay the groundwork for the participation of the Philippines in the United Nations-sponsored Transforming Education Summit (TES) in September 2022, a team from the Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office - Planning Service (PS) conducted a school-level consultation with select stakeholders from Tarlac Agricultural University - Laboratory School (TAU-LS) at the Farmers’ Training Center on 21 July.
TAU-LS was chosen to participate in the Grassroot Consultation for the TES as it is the only State University and College (SUC) secondary school in the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Tarlac Province.
The team from DepEd PS steered a focus group discussion with junior and senior high school students, parents, teachers, and Ms. Karen A. Mariano, TAU-LS Principal. Said event was also attended by Dr. Christine N. Ferrer, Director of External Linkages and International Affairs, Dr. Claire Anne A. Olivares, Dean of College of Education (CED), and Dr. Blessie Lorenzo, Program Chair from CED.
Meanwhile, Ms. Quennie Ann J. Palafox, a Senior Education Program Specialist of the Planning and Research Section of SDO Tarlac Province, said that such activity is a bottom-up approach to educational management.
As education becomes more globalized and integrated, TES vows to provide avenues for the achievement of commitments to SDG 4: Quality Education and guides in the planning and coordination of educational policies at the national and international levels.
