𝐔𝐀 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐓𝐀𝐔’𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬

Pampanga’s University of the Assumption (UA) paid a courtesy visit to Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) on September 20, 2024 at the Office of the University President (OUP) Conference Room to learn the global ranking strategies, best practices and internationalization undertakings of TAU.

The said visit was represented by UA’s three academic officials namely, Dr. Emmanuel M. Bagtas, Director of Research and Planning Office; Dr. Violy Fernanda Y. Santos, Director of Quality and Management Office; and Ms. Lorna M. Basmayor, Director of Guidance and Admissions Office.

On the other hand, Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson, SUC President IV led the benchmarking activity in coordination with the Office of External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA).

Dr. Salunson reiterated TAU’s openness to share its best IZN practices to those HEIs who intend to visit TAU, “𝙄𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙖 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚, 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙣𝙖 𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙣 𝙠𝙖𝙮𝙤 𝙣𝙖 𝙙𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙩 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙜𝙖 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙏𝘼𝙐 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙚 to 𝙮𝙤𝙪. ” He also conveyed his gratitude to UA and sights partnership with them.

Dr. Benny S. Soliman, Director of TAU–ELIA, formally welcomed the visitors and extended his appreciation to them for visiting TAU as one of their venues to expand their internationalization initiatives. He also emphasized TAU’s effort to make an impact for IZN, one of which are its inclusion at the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings and the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI).

Dr. Soliman further stressed on looking forward to collaborating with UA towards innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility as he highlighted the importance of establishing a strong internal collaboration with other higher education institutions (HEIs) in the region.

On behalf of UA, Dr. Santos thanked TAU for the immediate response with their request to benchmark on international rankings and engage with TAU. “𝙒𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙚𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙩. 𝙎𝙤 𝙬𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙪𝙨.” Dr. Santos expressed.

Mr. Jerome L. Duque, Information Officer III of the Information Unit (IU) mentored the visitors about Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings and the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI). While Mr. Julius C. Consul, Administrative Aide VI of the TAU-ELIA mentored them about the UI Green Metric.

They both shared strategic practices in consolidating documents as well as their experiences throughout the years that TAU participated in the international rankings.

Drawing to a close, Dr. Sheila R. Lingaya, Assistant Director of ELIA, pointed out the vital part of being prepared and committed to deliver a premium effort for the University in the name of internationalization, particularly in terms of international rankings.

As the visitors learned TAU’s strategic initiatives and best practices, they are now ready to takepart and begin their journey to the world university rankings.
