Challenging restrictive stereotypes about masculinity, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson inspires the participants of the MOVE KATROPA Film Viewing at the Student and Alumni Center Amphitheater on 25 March.
Dr. Salunson notes that while gender equality discussions often prioritize women and the LGBTQIA+ community, men also remain imprisoned by harmful societal expectations. He emphasizes that stereotypes drive many men to conceal their pain, sadness, and fear, leading them to suffer in silence rather than seek help. By masking their struggles to maintain a facade of strength, many men are denied the emotional resources necessary for mental well-being.
Highlighting the importance of the activity, Dr. Salunson asserts that true equality means granting everyone the freedom to experience emotions without fear of dismissal. He advocates for dismantling the perspectives that confine human identity and expresses hope that the Gender and Development (GAD) Office and MOVE KATROPA continueΒ imparting valuable lessons on empathy and equality.
