Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) is currently participating in the International Research Collaboration and Cross-Cultural Dialogues on the Ecological Framework for Laboratory Schools at Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) in East Java, Indonesia, from 5-9 October.ย
The TAU delegation joins six faculty members from the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) and two from the Teacher Education Council (TEC), with the event funded by TEC through the research grant secured by Dr. Marlon B. Espedillon in coordination with UST in 2025.ย
From 6-9 October, the delegates will pay courtesy calls to officials and conduct facility visits, class observations, and interviews with academic officials and staff at SMP Laboratory Malang, SD Laboratory Malang, and SDA Laboratory Malang, with after-action reviews at the end of each day. The team will hold a discussion on the implications of the activity for the development of a teacher education curriculum and will begin initial report-writing of the data gathered.
Once completed, the research is expected to inform national policy on teacher education by providing evidence-based recommendations for the establishment and strengthening of laboratory schools across the country. The findings may guide the TEC and other governing bodies in crafting guidelines that align laboratory school practices with ecological and sustainability frameworks, ultimately enhancing the quality of teacher training and basic education in the Philippines.
