The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) actively participates in the ongoing discussions on the Development of Fertilizer Recommendations for the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Seed Program, an initiative spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture–PhilRice. The activity gathers key stakeholders, including students from the College of Agriculture and Forestry under the supervision of Dr. Sinamar E. Estudillo, to deepen understanding of science-based fertilizer management for improved rice productivity. Present during the engagement are University President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson and Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training (VP-RET) Dr. Edmar N. Franquera, reaffirming the University’s strong commitment to advancing agricultural research and extension services.

In his message, Dr. Salunson expresses full support for the initiative, emphasizing that this opportunity paves the way for growth and innovation across the TAU community, anchored on the belief that knowledge leads to a brighter tomorrow. Meanwhile, Dr. Andres L. Dela Cruz, Head of the RCEF-PMO FOMD, introduces PhilRice, highlighting its vital functions and its collaborative linkage with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in driving sustainable rice production in the country. The activity underscores TAU’s role in cultivating future agricultural leaders and promoting evidence-based practices that contribute to national food security.
