𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐒 | 𝐏𝐏𝐂 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐓𝐀𝐔 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬

The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) hosted a benchmarking activity welcoming officials from the Pangasinan Polytechnic College (PPC) at the Office of the University President (OUP) Conference Room on 27 February to facilitate the sharing of best practices in agriculture, research, and extension as a foundation for a partnership aimed at fostering future collaboration.

The program commenced with welcome remarks from Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel, Director of External Linkages and International Affairs, followed by messages of support from the TAU President, Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson; and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Sonny DC. Torres. Continuing the session, Prof. Cheenie Rose B. Bermas from Pangasinan Polytechnic College (PPC) introduced the PPC delegation and provided an overview of their college’s institutional background.

Central to the activity was a series of comprehensive presentations on institutional best practices. Ms. Virgen Aquino, a faculty member of the College of Business and Management (CBM), shared the college's curriculum and student internship practices. This was followed by CBM’s Dean, Dr. Erlie SD. Totaan, who discussed innovations in the agriculture curriculum and industry-aligned competencies. Ms. Virginia Isabel Candal, a faculty member from the College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF), also presented the curriculum of programs offered by her college.

On behalf of the research department; Mr. Frederick G. Hilario, Science Research Analyst, delivered a presentation on research management, productivity, and output utilization. Furthermore, Dr. Agnes A. Perey, Director of the Department of Extension and Training, discussed community engagement and technology transfer, while Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel concluded the session by highlighting institutional sustainability and partnership management.

The highlight of the engagement focused on the potential collaboration between the two institutions to pave the way for a formal Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). An interactive open forum held between presentations allowed for an exchange on departmental practices, specifically focusing on how PPC can adopt TAU’s proven frameworks for its own institutional growth. 

The program concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Edmar N. Franquera, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training, who underscored the mutual benefits of this academic synergy.
