We extend our warmest congratulations to the Department of Forestry contingent from the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) for their outstanding performance at the 15th National Forestry Olympiad (NFO), hosted by the University of the Philippines Los Baรฑos (UPLB) from 21 to 27 February. Competing against 25 other State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), the TAU team showcased incredible grit and academic excellence to secure an impressive 10th place overall.
Beyond the team ranking, TAUโs forestry students proved their mettle in specialized fields, bringing home top honors in several highly technical events: 4th place in Wood Identification, 5th place in Leaf Identification, 8th place in Forest Plant Disease Identification, and 10th place in Seed Identification. These achievements reflect the high caliber of training and passion within CAF, under the guidance of competent and dedicated faculty and staff.ย
Under the banner "Together for Tomorrow: Building a Diverse and Inclusive Future in Veterinary Medicine," the Tarlac Agricultural University โ College of Veterinary Medicine (TAU-CVM) officially opened its Veterinary Medicine Week 2026 on 17 March. Students, faculty, and their furry companions gathered to celebrate the profession, kicking off three days of engaging activities.
The day began early at the New CVM Building with a parade that wound its way into the Gilberto O. Teodoro Multipurpose Center. The Opening Ceremony that followed was steeped in tradition, commencing with a Doxology, the Entrance of Colors led by the ROTC unit, and the singing of the National Anthem. Dr. Annalie P. Torio, CVM Assistant Dean, delivered the opening remarks, warmly greeting the attendees and highlighting the significance of the celebration.
Dr. Regina C. Villarama, CVM Student Council Adviser, then took the stage to present the timeline of activities and officially launched the delegation banners, signaling the start of the festivities. A short but insightful talk by Dr. Leatrize Gonzales followed, offering students valuable perspectives on the veterinary profession.
The spotlight then turned to the much-anticipated VSAS Pet Show, where participants proudly presented their beloved companions across various categories, showcasing the special bond between humans and animals.
After a lunch break, the energy shifted indoors for the VKV โ VLV Laro ng Lahi. Students set aside their textbooks to engage in traditional Filipino games, fostering teamwork and friendly competition among the different teams. The first day of CVM Week concluded on a high note with an adrenaline-filled showcase by the Rodeo Club, treating attendees to exciting demonstrations and interactive games that highlighted the skills and precision of rodeo sports.
Meanwhile, the second day of the Veterinary Medicine Week 2026, set for 18 March, promises a shift in energy as participants trade their white uniforms for active wear. The morning will begin with the much-anticipated Color Fun Run, followed by a short awarding ceremony and the high-energy VET Olympics. Running concurrently will be the CC Spay and Neuter Drive, a parallel activity reflecting the collegeโs deep commitment to animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.

Students from Tarlac Agricultural University - College of Veterinary Medicine (TAU-CVM) took part and represented the University in the PARAmihan ng Alam 2026 at the CVM-IAS Communal Building Lecture Room of the UP Los Baรฑos on 7 March 2026.ย
The national quiz competition for veterinary students hosted by the University of the Philippines (UP) Alpha Chiron Society, brought together veterinary medicine students from different universities across the country to test their knowledge in Veterinary Parasitology. The event also served as a venue for aspiring veterinarians to showcase their academic competence and to develop camaraderie and professional collaboration among future veterinarians.
For this event, two teams from TAU-CVM competed. Team A comprised Scott Renz O. Tomas, Breighton C. Trinidad, and Jona Eleazer Z. Mesa, while Team B consisted of Alfred J. Soriano, Jomarie S. Tamondong, and Lance Kaydence M. Cabigting. Both teams represented TAU with honor and a strong commitment to veterinary medicine.
The involvement of TAU-CVM faculty mentors, Dr. Regina C. Villarama and Dr. Jerico V. Dumale, was critical in facilitating students' attendance at the event. The mentors voiced their pride in the students and emphasized the importance of such participatory academic endeavors in the veterinary profession in regard to students' self-assurance, skill, and holistic development.
As for this yearโs contest, the champion title was bagged by the Central Luzon State University (CLSU). The University of the Philippines Los Baรฑos (UPLB) and De La Salle Araneta University (DLSAU) took the 1st and 2nd runner-up spots, respectively.
The rigorous competition has been an indicator of TAU-CVMโs improvement in the arena of academics and its participation in PARAmihan ng Alam 2026 reinforces TAU-CVMโs dedication towards fostering students to be competent, skillful, and globally competitive veterinarians.
Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson and Mr. Orlando H. Locading Jr., Chief of TAUโs Presidential Management Staff (PMS), are actively participating in the first day of the Higher Education Summit 2026 at SMX Clark, joining key higher education and industry leaders in discussions on transformative academic strategies.ย
The opening sessions feature a message from Cong. Jude A. Acidre, Chairperson of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education, and a statement of purpose from Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Shirley C. Agrupis, who is also presenting the ACHIEVE Pathway to 2026 and beyond. TAUโs delegation is attending the series of morning panel discussions, including sessions on advanced lifelong learning and harmonized SDG-based research and innovation, which bring together speakers from CHED, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and various national agencies, organizations, and academic institutions.
Throughout the afternoon sessions, the officials are engaging in concurrent panel discussions covering expanded data analytics, vitalized governance policies, and effective public service. These discussions will focus on stakeholder trust and the harmonization of protocols between public and private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and the greater community of educators, researchers, industry partners, and government agencies working toward sustainable human capital development.
To ensure efficient and responsible use of public funds, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) - Regional Office III conducts a Performance Validation of the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) at the Office of the University President (OUP) Conference Hall, 9 March.
Led by Ms. Thelma Abegail Macalino, Acting Supervising Budget & Management Specialist along with Ms. Katrina Mae Yalung - Budget Management Special II and Mr. Alexis Gutierrez - Budget Management Specialist I, DBM RO III officials evaluate TAUโs financial disbursements and physical accomplishments and inspect the status of ongoing infrastructure projects funded under the Fiscal Year 2025 General Appropriations Act (Republic Act No. 12116).
During the meeting, the University President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson takes the opportunity to enumerate TAUโs accomplishments in program implementation, financial management, and infrastructure development. The meeting concludes with a joint effort between the DBM officials and university administrators in addressing the efficiency of the project and internal controls.
