The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) hosts an initial discussion with the provinceโ€™s First Lady, Ms. Melissa Yeung-Yap along with Tarlac Provincial Government (PGT) delegates, and her team, to discuss potential collaboration on herbal plants and herbal-based medicines, at the Office of the University President (OUP), 13 January.

Leading the meeting is University President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson, alongside Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA) Dr. Arnold R. Lorenzo and other TAU officials.

The meeting focuses on the possible areas of partnership aligned with TAUโ€™s strengths in herbal plant production, research, extension, and business development. Ms. Yap also expresses her companyโ€™s need for herbal plants and herbal-based medicinal products, including ginger and other TAUโ€™s flagship products, and for opportunities to open academic-industry collaborations.ย

During the discussion, Dr. Salunson emphasizes the importance of the said partnership to help the farmers in the community and boost the Income Generating Project (IGP) of the University. He also suggests the implementation of capacity-building initiatives, training, and other related activities to determine the right strategies, competencies, and interventions needed to achieve the desired outcomes.

Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) distributes first-aid-essential โ€œGo Bagsโ€ to all its employees this week which is still part of its observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), aligned with the national theme โ€œUNITEd for a VAW-free Philippines.โ€ Led by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, the initiative advocates for a holistic view of safety that links disaster preparedness with protection from all forms of violence.

Each bright orange Go Bag is equipped with carefully selected items designed to support immediate survival, injury management, and safe evacuation during emergencies. Medical supplies include elastic bandages for injury support, swelling compression, and bleeding control; triangular bandages for immobilizing fractures or dislocations and creating slings; sterile gauze, cotton balls, and cotton buds for cleaning, dressing, and protecting wounds; and alcohol swabs and wipes for disinfection. Micropore tape is also included to securely hold wound dressings in place.

Each kit further contains essential tools that enhance safety and response in crisis situations. A flashlight provides critical illumination during power outages and evacuations, while a whistle enables individuals to signal for help when shouting is ineffective. Scissors support both first-aid and emergency response. Safety pins are included for securing bandages and slings. Face masks protection against dust and other potential contaminants during disasters.

The Tarlac Agricultural University - College of Education (TAU-CEd) was formally recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on 10 January as one of the nationโ€™s premier teacher-education institutions (TEIs) for its outstanding performance in the September and November 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT).

In a ceremony held at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, TAU-CEd was awarded a Certificate of Recognition for ranking Eighth Place nationwide in the Elementary Level category for schools with 50 to 99 examinees. The College achieved a remarkable 95.31% passing rate, with 61 of 64 examinees successfully passing the rigorous examinations.

The recognition is especially significant as TAU-CEd was one of only two Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the entire Central Luzon region to be honored in the Elementary Level category for the said LEPT cycle.

The awards were presentedย  during a regional oathtaking ceremony for new professional teachers in Region III. The event featured the awarding of medals and certificates of distinction to individual topnotchers and top-performing schools, a highlight of the annual gathering.

In a heartfelt message following the ceremony, Dr. Claire Anne A. Olivares, TAU-CEd Dean, shared her joy and gratitude. โ€œThank you, dear graduates, for bringing pride and honor to our beloved TAU - CEd. Ama, alam kong Ikaw ang may gawa nito. Salamat po sa favor! (Father, I know You made this happen. Thank You for the favor!),โ€ Dr. Olivares wrote on Facebook.ย ย ย ย

Meanwhile, TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson praised the TAU-CEd community, calling the honor "another breakthrough" for the institution. "This distinction as a regional benchmark for excellence celebrates the unfailing efforts of our faculty and administration and, above all, the hard work and sacrifices of our graduates, who are now called to steward the future of our nation's educational system," Dr. Salunson stated.

Students, faculty, and staff from six colleges and the Laboratory School (LS) join academic support personnel and members of the Administrative Council (AdCo) as the University community stands at attention, the flag is raised, and the pledges are recited.

Concluding the ceremony, TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson reminds everyone to sing the anthems and memorize TAUโ€™s vision and mission, wishes returning students a restful break, and encourages them to engage actively, ask questions, and make full use of the resources available as they begin an exciting journey ahead.
