𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐒 | 𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐀’𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐃𝐞𝐯’𝐭. 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐅𝐒𝐓𝐏, 𝐄𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐦𝐮𝐬+ 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐧 - 𝐋𝐮𝐳𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐠

Ms. Caroline N. Gabis, Chief for Partnership Development of the External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA) Office, represented Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) in the Foreign Scholarships and Training Program (FSTP) and Erasmus+ Caravan – Luzon Leg held at the Monarch Hotel in Calasiao, Pangasinan on October 22-23, 2025.

The event was organized by the Commission on Higher Education – International Affairs Service (CHED-IAS) led by Atty. Lily Freida Milla, CESO III, OIC Deputy Executive Director, in coordination with CHED Regional Office I, under the supervision of TAU-ELIA’s former Director, Dr. Christine N. Ferrer, now appointed Officer-in-Charge (OIC), Deputy Executive Director IV of CHED.

In line with the goal of strengthening collaborative initiatives between Philippine Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) and the European Union, academic leaders and representatives from various HEIs in Luzon engaged in sessions aimed at broadening their understanding of academic exchanges, mobility programs, institutional partnerships, and linkages.

𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐒 | TAU, KU’s IIGE forge partnership for Global COIL Implementation

A cooperative partnership initiating an effort to establish a global online classroom through Virtual Exchange (VE), utilizing the framework of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) between Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) and Kansai University (KU) for the Institute for Innovative Global Education (IIGE) was formalized on November 28, 2025 via a Zoom meeting.

Kansai University’s IIGE operates as a national hub for promoting and implementing Virtual Exchange programs across Japanese higher education. The institute's expertise will be crucial in guiding TAU's adoption of the COIL methodology.

This partnership agreement signifies TAU’s commitment to strengthening its international linkages, aligning with its strategic objectives for global engagement.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson, University President, expressed profound gratitude for the newly established partnership. President Salunson’s presence at the initiation meeting underscored the high institutional importance placed on collaborative activities that align with TAU's goal of expanding its global footprint.

Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel, Director of the External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA) Office, also shared her enthusiasm, noting that the acceptance of their proposal by Kansai University fulfills a key strategic objective for TAU. She expressed hope for a productive engagement and looks forward to continuous collaborative meetings to drive the partnership forward.

Inbound exchange students from the Universitas Pancasakti (UPS) Tegal, Indonesia, enjoyed the insightful trip to Philippine historical landmarks in Manila on November 27, 2025 as part of their participation in Tarlac Agricultural University’s (TAU) International Credit Transfer Program. 

The students were accompanied by the representatives from TAU External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA) Office, led by its Director, Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel, along with the ELIA staff: Mr. Abner P. Manebog Jr., Ms. Mary Camille B. Laoag, and Mr. Mark Aldwin S. Agbayani.

The tour included Manila’s top tourist destinations, including Intramuros, the National Museum of Natural History, Luneta Park, and SM Mall of Asia.
