Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) took a significant stand against gender-based violence with a panel discussion entitled โ€œBreaking the Silence: A Multisectoral Approach to Combating Gender Violenceโ€ at the Student and Alumni Center Amphitheater, 25 November, as part of the nationwide 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC).ย

The program commenced with a series of talks that set a solemn tone for the day and brought together University leaders, educators, staff, and students. Dr. Ma. Theresa B. Nardo, Director of the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, delivered welcome remarks, followed by an inspirational message from the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) Dean, Dr. Lavina Gracia M. Ramirez, who represented Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VP ASA), Dr. Sonny DC. Torres. Their speeches emphasized the Universityโ€™s institutional role in preventing violence and supporting survivors, framing the dayโ€™s discussions as a critical component of TAU's advocacy.

The core of the event was a robust panel discussion featuring experts from various offices within the University. The panel, facilitated by Ms. Faith G. Santos, included Dr. Nardo; Mr. Nelmar A. Mallari, Chief of Information Unit; Ms. Erika R. Prado, Chief of the Inclusion Unit; and Mr. Johndhel C. Dela Cruz, Communications Development Officer. This diverse composition highlighted the need for a unified response to effectively combat gender violence.

Over in the Taekwondo venue, itโ€™s all about powerful kicks and quick points as athletes trade blows in a fast-paced showcase of skill and nerve.

For four straight days, TAU becomes one of the provinceโ€™s main sporting hubs, packed with rising talents. The competitive energy is everywhere, with personal records being shattered and aspirants rising to the challenge. This is where Tarlacโ€™s next champions are being made, right now.
