Culminating months of intensive community literacy and service initiatives under the National Service Training Program (NSTP), a total of 1,104 students from Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) graduate, after completing their Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) and Literacy Training Service (LTS) requirements, at the Gilberto O. Teodoro Multipurpose Hall on 16 May.

University officials emphasize that the training framework directly aligns with the institutionโ€™s mission to produce graduates who are both academically competent and socially engaged. By bridging classroom learning with real-world community development, the program equips students to actively address localized civic and educational needs.

With their requirements fulfilled, the graduates transition into their respective fields prepared to integrate these foundational skills into their future careers. The University community looks on as these civic leaders carry the spirit of service and active citizenship beyond the campus, creating a lasting impact in their respective communities.

Higher Education Institutions (HEI) across Central Luzon gathered at Bulacan State University (BulSU) for the 1st Central Luzon Association of International Relations Officers (CLAIRO) General Assembly and ACHIEVE Conference held on 25 March, highlighting strengthened collaboration toward internationalization and academic competitiveness in the region.

The event, themed โ€œUGNAYAN: Unifying Global Networks and Yielding Academic Niches,โ€ was organized in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) Regional Office III and brought together internationalization officers, university administrators, and academic leaders to align strategies for global engagement and cross-border academic cooperation.

Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) was represented by the External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA) Office, headed by its Director Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel, alongside the Assistant Director Dr. Sheila R. Lingaya, and the Chief of Partnership Development Ms. Caroline N. Gabis. Their presence formed part of TAUโ€™s active engagement in regional discussions on expanding institutional linkages and strengthening international cooperation frameworks.

Key discussions during the assembly centered on developing sustainable international programs, improving institutional mobility mechanisms, and identifying collaborative opportunities among participating universities. Experts and representatives from various higher education institutions shared insights on building globally responsive academic systems aligned with emerging trends in higher education.

During the event, Dr. Christine N. Ferrer, former Director of TAU ELIA and current Director IV of the CHED International Affairs Office, shared valuable insights on internationalization.

The conference also marked the formal organization of CLAIRO officers and members through an oath-taking ceremony led by CHED representatives, reinforcing the associationโ€™s role as a coordinating body for international relations officers in Central Luzon.

As part of the ACHIEVE initiative, participants collectively outlined forward-looking strategies aimed at enhancing regional synergy and institutional readiness for global partnerships.

The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) through the initiative of the External Linkages and International (ELIA) office led by its Director Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel,ย  co-hosted and actively participated in a three-day international virtual convergence on gastronomic tourism, food diplomacy, and sustainability as part of a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiative led by Quirino State University via Zoom from 28-30 April.

The 2026 International Spring Convergence on Gastronomic Tourism, Food Diplomacy and Sustainability partner institutions included Palawan State University, Urdaneta City University, Marinduque State University, Mindoro State University, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Bandung Islamic University (Indonesia), and Howard University (USA). The theme was "Culinary Heritage and Food Innovation for a Resilient and Sustainable Future."

TAU President Dr. Silverio R. Ramos delivered a welcome message during the convergence. Students and faculty from the College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF), College of Education (CEd), and College of Business and Management (CBM) participated voluntarily following a university memorandum encouraging global academic engagement.

Three TAU faculty members served as resource speakers: Ms. Maricar Estrada, PFT, from CAF under the Department of Food Science and Technology discussed integrating food science principles into heritage preservation and sustainable product development; Mr. Jefferson L. Bautista from CEd presented pedagogical approaches to embedding culinary heritage and food diplomacy into school curricula; and Mr. Mark Lawrence Y. Dupitas, also from CEd, delivered a presentation on food literacy, community engagement, and cultural identity.
