The Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) of the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) hosted an Alumni Day, 9 May, as part of the Universityโs 8th Charter Anniversary celebration.ย
Held on the 4th day of the weeklong festivity, the Alumni Day served as a testament to the sustaining spirit of camaraderie and the profound impact the University has on its graduates.
Bringing together a number of graduates from various batches, the event commenced with a motorcade that traversed from TAU's main gate through the towns of Santa Ignacia, Camiling, San Clemente, and Mayantoc, mirroring the University's symbolic journey in the enduring impact across communities.
A formal opening program followed immediately, where Dr. Ma Theresa B. Nardo, the OAR Director, emphasized in her opening message the indelible mark left by TAU alumni in various spheres of society.ย ย
Mr. Alvin Aliado Butay, a Master of Science in Agriculture Major in Agronomy graduate in 2010 and presently the Municipal Agriculturist of Anao, Tarlac, graced the occasion as the Guest Speaker. In his speech, he illuminated the essence of โTatak TAUโ accentuating the Universityโs ethos of resilience and camaraderie.
The highlight of the event was the recognition of exceptional alumni who were presented with the following awards: TAU Lifetime Distinguished Achievement Award for seasoned alumni whose professional endeavors have exemplified excellence and who have rendered exemplary service throughout their careers; TAU Special Awards bestowed upon alumni who have made significant contributions to the university or the community through groundbreaking research, innovations, notable achievements in national or international competitions, or as board topnotchers; TAU Achiever Award for alumni who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and meritorious service in advancing the University's Vision, Mission, and Goal; and the TAU "Gintong Ani" Award conferred to the following alumni whose exceptional achievements and contributions have significantly benefited society, bringing distinct honor to the University namely: Dr. Max P. Guillermo, University President of Tarlac Agricultural University; Dr. Arnold E. Velasco, University President of Tarlac State University; Dr. May B. Eclar, Regional Director of the Department of Education (DepEd); Mr. Michael B. Candelario, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GoSago; Dr. Bonifacio D. Caculitan, Principal III at the Don Quintin Paredes HS, Quezon City - Department of Education; Dr. Terry Doctor, Principal, Department of Education (DepEd) Tarlac Province; Mr. Ver Prambita, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tuskan Design Inc, / EEAP Tech Trading; Dr. Erwin M. Cornelio, Assistant Farm Manager Walter Maidment Limited, Manor Farm-Wilcot Village, Pewsey, Wiltshire, England; and Mr. Errol R. Baseco, owner of various businesses.ย
The event drew to a close with a heartfelt message from Dr. Edmar N. Franquera, newly eelcted President of the TAU Alumni Association Inc., expressing gratitude to the alumni for their unwavering support and participation in the event.ย Dr. Franquera acknowledged their dedication amidst their bustling schedules, underscoring the profound sense of unity and pride that defines the TAU alumni family.
At the end of the gathering, gratitude and optimism were in the air. The Alumni Day had not only reawakened old friendships but also renewed a commitment to the University and the community.ย ย
