Organized by the College Student Council (CSC), the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) set the stage for its CAS Week with a jam-packed line-up of events including games, talent competitions, and debate contests, among others, 5-7 March.

Led by its College Dean Dr. Sherwin S. Alar, the celebration kicked-off with a parade featuring different camps, such as Pink Simurgh, Green Garuda, Grey Bennu, Red Anqa, Blue Firebird, and Yellow Fenghuang. The first day continued with different competitions such as speech choir, โ€œTalentadong CASโ€ talent showdown, and a street dance competition at the CAS assembly area.

For the second day, AGNI-CASโ€”which the College derived from the Sanskrit word โ€œAgniโ€ meaning fireโ€”ignited the theme of CAS week which is embodied by fire that represents the burning passion of the CAS stakeholders especially in playing traditional games.

Aside from the entertainment, the students also engaged in a meaningful battle of wits at the debate competition where participants faced their opponents, offering diverging viewpoints and providing strong evidence and counterarguments. This develops the critical thinking of students and strengthens their public speaking skills. The team from Gray Bennu triumphed after beating Pink Simurgh in the championship round.

Highlighting the beauty and talent of CAS students, the College also hosted the Mr. and Ms. CAS 2025. Mark Vincent Valete and Twinkle Guides secured the crown and are expected to represent the College in the University-wide pageant. The celebration concluded with a socialization night that served as a moment for the students, faculty, and staff to unwind, bond, and build stronger connections.

โ€œCAS week is more than just a gathering for competitions and celebrations; it is a testament to the creativity and talent of CAS students. A reminder that learning goes beyond the classroom,โ€ Dr. Alar stated.

โ€œTogether, let us continue to ignite the fire of excellence and community within CAS," he added.
