Recognizing the value of proactiveness and preparedness in institutional management, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) collaborated with the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) to equip its officials and staff with relevant knowledge regarding anticipatory governance, highlighting the former’s commitment to future-ready operations.

Held at the Agritourism Hostel Function Hall on 24-26 September, DAP’s Certificate Course on Foresight and Futures Thinking (CCFFT) Batch 2 focused on teaching foundational futures thinking concepts through lectures and workshops facilitated by resource speakers and learning managers from DAP and coordinators from the Planning and Development Office (PDO).
Β
Divided in three modules, the CCFFT will extend until the third week of October for the presentation of policy foresight papers and closing ceremony which will include the program completers from the first batch. CCFFT’s batch one course was held at the Bamboo Training Center on 17 April as part of TAU’s Annual Performance Review and Program Planning Workshop.

The activity is also eyed to prime newly appointed members of the Administrative Council (AdCo) under the leadership of TAU’s new president, Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson.
Β
Following the program overview delivered by Dr. Lizan E. Perante-Calina, dean of DAP’s Graduate School of Public Development Management (GSPDM), Dr. Salunson thanked the participants as he urged them to take part actively and collaboratively. The TAU President also stressed how inevitable futures are for TAU especially that it is an agency of change and development in key agro-industrial sectors, being an academic and research institution specializing in agriculture and related disciplines.
Β
β€œWe always look forward to preparing TAU for the challenges of today to provide opportunities and solutions for the future. Through this program, I expect each one of you to gain insightful knowledge that can be applied in your respective office,” Dr. Salunson stated.
Β
During the workshop stage the attendees were grouped in six teams who selected and worked on the following issues: transforming TAU library into learning commons; infrastructure and greening initiatives; sweetpotato industry; graduates and alumni employability; veterinary education; and harmonization of budget and project procurement management plan (PPMP).
