The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) community commenced the Intramurals 2024 with the theme β€œNow on Track: Discovering TAU Athletes, Upholding the Future of Sports and Culture” with much excitement and energy at the TAU Grandstand, 6 November.

As a celebration of athleticism and solidarity, the annual event kicked off with an assembly of delegates. The parade started with the entrance of National and University colors, followed by the TAU Laboratory School (LS) Drum and Lyre Corps, members of the Administrative Council, student leaders from the Supreme Student Council (SSC) and the six colleges in their respective uniforms, proudly waving their banners, with great spirit and enthusiasm. It ended at the TAU Grandstand where everyone gathered for the kickof

The opening program of the 2024 Intramurals, which involved days of meticulous preparation, started with a performance by the TAU Chorale in their rendition of the Philippine National Anthem followed by a doxology which was followed by the opening remarks of Dr. Sonny DC. Torres, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.

Meanwhile in his inspirational message, University President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson emphasized that sportsmanship and honor are more important than winning; highlighting respect, honesty, and teamwork as the true marks of a distinguished athlete. β€œTherefore, even though winning is thrilling, what really counts are the relationships we form, the challenges we overcome, and the respect we earn and show,” he added.

Likewise, the SSC President noted that this year’s Intramural Games are shaping up to surpass the previous year's event, with students and coaches coming together to showcase their best talents and skills during the presentation of the competing teams.

The ceremony also included the much anticipated yell exhibition, where colleges proudly presented their flair through synchronized movements, chants, mascots, props, and high-energy displays. Again, every participating team fought hard, but the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), which won last year’s yell competition, stood tall, ruling the competition once more.

Meanwhile, before the formal opening of the 2024 Intramurals, the National and International medalists of TAU namely; Ms. Merry Joy I. Trupal; Mr. Benjamin Pascasio; Ms. Kristel Natividad; Ms. Elaine Quismundo; and Ms. Dolores Pascua were gathered at the TAU Oval for the lighting of the Flame of Unity, symbolizing solidarity among the members of the TAU family, followed by the gold medalist in Archery, Ms. Allysa R. Faye Felipe, who led the Oath of Sportsmanship.

During this time, the ceremonial hoisting of college flags followed, led by an elite lineup of sports coordinators, student leaders, and college deans. This was then succeeded by the Declaration of Formal Opening of TAU Intramurals 2024 by Dr. Emerson B. Cuzzamu, the Director of the Sports and Development Office (SDO).

The opening ceremony concluded after the special presentations, hip-hop dance competition which was ruled by the College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF), and awarding of winners.
