CHRONICLES | TAU-SPO wraps up Career Information Drive, plans future strategies
The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) - Student Placement Office (SPO) officially concluded the annual career information drive through a close-out meeting at the Learning Resource Center (LRC) Conference Hall, 19 March.
TAU-SPO discussed the challenges encountered by the Technical Working Group (TWG) and proposed possible interventions to strengthen its campaign aiming to expand the number of college applicants.
Based on the collected data from the Admission and Registration Services (ARS), 4,086 applicants from Tarlac successfully registered in the admission portal, while 379 are determined to be from Pangasinan.
According to the SPO personnel, the insights gathered from the TWG are mostly concerned with the conflict of the scheduled visit. Due to school activities, only a few of the senior high school students were available during the orientation. However, the members agreed to start the next activity in July 2025 and prepare the logistical requirements ahead of time, including the necessary materials for the campaign.
Meanwhile, students raised concerns about the technical issues in creating an account in the TAU Portal, as the system was not able to accommodate the large number of visitors. In response, the ARS office conducted an on-site application to assist the applicants in accessing the online platform. Said office also coordinated with the University's Planning and Development Office (PDO) through its Management Information System (MIS) Unit in this mechanism.
Career Information Drive: Reaching Students Across North and Central Luzon
TAU-SPO successfully conducted its annual career information drive covering 92 schools--45 from Tarlac and 47 from Pangasinan--to guide the senior high school students mostly from public schools, in their pursuit of academic and career aspirations.
Spearheaded by SPO Director Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel, through the support of the College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF), College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), College of Business and Management (CBM), College of Education (CEd), College of Engineering and Technology (CET), College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), Planning and Development Office (PDO), Admission and Registration Services (ARS), Office of Student Services and Development (OSSD), Information Unit (IU), and Motorpool Services, select faculty and staff conducted the campaign in 15 towns of Tarlac and 12 towns of Pangasinan from 5 December to 26 February.
During the campaign, the team introduced the University and its curricular offerings, guided the students on the application process, and assisted the learners with the frequently asked questions.
While some students were on their work immersion and others were currently having their examinations, the team conducted an orientation with the principals, school heads, and teachers on the curricular programs of the University and admission schedule, requirements, and processes.
