Tying with Central Luzon State University (CLSU), Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) remained as Region III’s leading higher education institution (HEI) in the 2024 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings as announced by the London-based university assessment publication, today, 12 June.

With an overall score of 60.9 points, TAU was ranked in the 801-1,000 tier among 1,963 colleges and universities and landed in 9th place with seven others, in a list of 56 PHEIs, country-wide.

TAU performed best in SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals earning 59.2 points. THE noted TAU for its publication of SDG reports, multisectoral and interinstitutional collaborations, and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The University also excelled in SDG 5: Gender Equality after it accumulated 58.8 points, owing to its policies on women empowerment especially in admissions.

SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 2: Zero Hunger are perennial strengths of TAU. Since 2021, TAU has ranked as one of the leading PHEIs in these two areas. Recognized for students who are receiving financial aid and community anti-poverty programs, TAU gained 54.4 points in SDG 1. Acquiring 53.8 points in SDG 2, TAU continued to demonstrate its strength in agriculture and related fields, guaranteeing food security. Nationally, TAU placed 4th in SDG 1, 3rd in SDG 2, 5th in SDG 5, and 14th in SDG 17.

TAU submitted the 2022 data in all 17 categories. In spite of the dip as the University was previously listed in the 601-800 segment, the whole TAU community celebrates another breakthrough in its 78-year history. In 2021, TAU was the first Philippines state university to be ranked in THE Impact Rankings.

Australia’s Western Sydney University is still the world’s most sustainable university. In Southeast Asia, Universiti Sains Malaysia placed 18th globally and 1st in the region. In the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University topped the roll at 101-200th place.
