Cited since the 2023 edition, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) has been once again acknowledged by the Times Higher Education (THE) in its most recent issue of World University Rankings (WUR) as announced by the said United Kingdom (UK)-based university rankings publication on 9 October.
ย
TAU was joined by 13 other Philippine Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) on the reportersโ€™ list. Only TAU, Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PhilSCA), Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), and Central Luzon State University (CLSU), made it from Region III. Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) led the six PHEIs in the official ranking which was dominated by universities in Metro Manila, except for the Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT).
ย
A "reporter" status in THE WUR recognizes HEIs that are making considerable progress but have not yet met all the requirements, especially research publication outputs. Over the years, TAU has continuously shown its long-term commitment to attaining a better performance as it proactively prepares to meet the criteria of global ranking process of THE WUR and other research-focused rankings, though such may necessitate substantial financial investments and will certainly tail strategic planning for the TAU leadership.
ย
Demonstrating his commitment to strengthen TAUโ€™s global footing, TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson mentioned his administrationโ€™s ongoing and future plans to improve the institution's research publication capabilities. โ€œWe will seek help from more and more experts and will benchmark the best practices of HEIs not only in the Philippines but also overseas,โ€ Dr. Salunson responded to the inquiry from the Information Unit.
ย
The University Executive also expressed his gratitude to TAUians who have contributed to the attainment of the Universityโ€™s goals of becoming one of the top universities in Asia. โ€œOur collaboration has resulted in something bigger than ourselves, a dream which we will all work to achieve,โ€ Dr. Salunson added.
ย
Supported by notable advancements in industry collaboration and teaching, Oxford University retained its top position for the ninth time as Chinese HEIs continue to climb, nearing the top 10 and enhancing its global research impact. THE WUR 2025 includes over 2,000 HEIs across 115 countries and territories.
ย
Earlier this year, TAU ranked in the 801-1,000 tier of THE Impact Rankings, further solidifying its reputation as one of the most sustainable PHEIs.
