To evaluate Tarlac Agricultural Universityโ€™s (TAU) 2024 achievements and provide strategic recommendations, the members of the TAU Board of Regents (BOR) convened for the Annual Performance Review at the SMX Convention Center Clark, Pampanga, on 21 February.

Said activity was bolstered by insights from a distinguished panel of evaluators, including Dr. Desiderio R. Apag III, newly appointed Commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Chairperson of the TAU BOR, who emphasized Universityโ€™s need for alignment with national and international educational standards.

The Commissioner praised the Universityโ€™s collaborative approach. Reflecting on his participation, he stated in a Facebook post, โ€œIt was an insightful day filled with presentations on accomplishments, gender integration, innovation, and quality assurance. Grateful for the opportunity to contribute and collaborate with fellow experts to help shape the future of our institution.โ€ His remarks demonstrated TAUโ€™s commitment to inclusive governance and innovation.

Key contributors also involved Dr. Julius Caesar V. Sicat, Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) III, and Mr. Arthur Dayrit, Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations from the Department of Agriculture (DA) III, who provided sector-specific suggestions. Stakeholder engagement was further advanced by Ms. Virgin Mary A. Nicolas, Private Sector Representative; Dr. Joseph Paul T. Abad, President of the United Faculty Association (UFA); Mr. Jethro M. Jimenez, President of Supreme Student Council (SSC); Dr. Edmar N. Franquera, President of TAU Alumni Association, and other members of the TAU BOR, who underscored the importance of collaborative governance.

Attended by the members of the Administrative Council (AdCo), the event primarily focused on presentations from four key sectors: Academic and Student Affairs; Finance and Administration; Research, Extension, and Training; and Planning and Quality Assurance, each followed by open fora to encourage open dialogue. Also, updates from the Alumni Relations Office and Internal Audit Services underscored transparency and stakeholder engagement.

Another highlight was the unveiling of TAUโ€™s 2025โ€“2035 Strategy Framework by Dr. Salunson, which aimed to align TAUโ€™s standards with global educational and operational benchmarks, and was further concurred by TAUโ€™s BOR.

By integrating feedback from evaluators, TAU manifested its commitment to accountability and innovation, solidifying its role as a leader in agriculture, teacher education, and related fields and community-driven development undertakings in the country.
