Several members of the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) audit team served as speakers and facilitators during the two-day Echo Training on Documenting and Establishing ISO 9001:2015 Quality Objectives, Their Corresponding Monitoring, Measurement Tools, Risk Identification, Evaluation, and Effective Records Control Using Process Approach at the AgriTourism Hostel Function Hall on 5โ€“6 August.

As a follow-up to the initial training for key university officials and staff conducted in Baguio City from 25 to 29 November 2024, the seminar cum workshop aimed to enrich participantsโ€™ understanding of ISO 9001:2015 standards, focusing on quality objectives, documentation, record control, and risk management. Participants included administrators, office staff, and support personnel seeking to improve organizational efficiency.

The first day featured Mr. Dante A. Revamonte, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for Finance, who provided an in-depth discussion on the fundamentals of ISO 9001:2015 and the importance of setting measurable quality objectives. His session also underscored aligning organizational goals with established standards to guarantee streamlined operations.

On the second day, Mr. Ernald T. Bautista, Planning Officer, discussed Documentation Requirements, focusing on recommended compliance protocols. Following his presentation, Mr. Christian A. Vidad, Instructor III, tackled the QMS Structure and Documented Information and explained how to manage records for procedural integrity and audit readiness.

โ€œWe conducted this activity to facilitate the shift to ISO 21001 Educational Organisation Management System (EOMS) from ISO 9001:2015 โ€“ Quality Management Systems (QMS), which is more applicable to our institution,โ€ Dr. Jerome D. Soriano, Director of the Quality Assurance (QA) Office, conveyed, providing additional rationale for the event.

TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC Salunson underscored the importance of institutionalizing quality assurance mechanisms, noting that building a responsive academic system requires consistent efforts to strengthen internal capacities, align processes with global standards, and maintain a culture of accountability across all levels of the organization.

The training reaffirmed the relevance of ISO 9001:2015 in promoting a culture of responsibility and measurable performance, and equipped participants with actionable strategies to improve their respective departmentsโ€™ documentation practices and risk response mechanisms.

โ€œIt's highly beneficial to us since the National Service Training Program (NSTP) focuses heavily on training and proposal development, ensuring an effective and structured process,โ€ Mx. Roniel โ€œEllaโ€ S. Quita, NSTP technical staff, shared.
