Reinforcing its commitment to gender equality and womenโs empowerment, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), through its Gender and Development (GAD) Office, has formally opened a dedicated lactation room at the Learning Resource Center (LRC) Building on 4 August.
The establishment of this facility is part of the GAD Officeโs financial work plan and budget, aimed at maximizing institutional mechanisms that promote inclusive, safe, and respectful environments, affirming the dignity and welfare of women.
โThis facility is designed to help mothers balance their responsibilities while also caring for their babies' needs, creating an environment that values both family and community,โ said Dr. Ma. Theresa B. Nardo, GAD Director.
TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC Salunson extended his strong support for the program, emphasizing its relevance in a modern academic institution. โThe launch of the lactation room represents a progressive step toward strengthening gender-responsive services at TAU. It reflects our shared vision to ensure that every member of our communityโespecially womenโreceives the support they need to thrive both professionally and personally. I commend the GAD Office for leading this initiative, which will serve as a continuing reminder that inclusivity and well-being are cornerstones of our academic mission,โ he remarked.
