Recognizing TAUians from the bachelorโ€™s to advanced degree levels, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) community formally conferred degrees on its newest graduates during the Midyear Commencement Exercises held at the Gilberto O. Teodoro Multipurpose Center on 9 January.ย

The ceremony opened with a formal academic procession of graduating students, members of the academic support services, faculty, the Administrative Council (AdCo), the Board of Regents (BOR), and guests, symbolizing the culmination of the graduatesโ€™ academic journey. This was followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the Doxology rendered by the TAU Chorale, setting a solemn and dignified tone for the commencement rites.

Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA) Dr. Sonny DC. Torres delivered the welcome remarks, highlighting the enduring value of education amid prevailing socio-political challenges and emphasizing that knowledge equips graduates to discern truth, counter misinformation, and engage the world with clarity and purpose.

The presentation and confirmation of candidates followed, led by the Deans of TAUโ€™s six colleges and formally confirmed by University President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson. This segment signaled the graduatesโ€™ readiness to be vested with their respective academic degrees.

As Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) holds its 3rd Midyear Commencement Exercises today, the walls of Gilberto O. Teodoro Multipurpose Center whisper the name of a lady whose journey embodies not just academic rigor, but the very essence of healing.ย

For Angela Beatrice T. Tan, receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree is more than a personal victory; it is the validation of a silent, persistent labor of love. For her professors, Angelaโ€™s golden heart has been as instrumental as her intellect in navigating the demanding path to becoming a full-fledged veterinary doctor.

Ms. Tanโ€™s journey started, as many in her field do, with a deep-seated love for animals. She describes a childhood surrounded by a menagerie of pets, an informal but necessary introduction to a life of responsibility and care. This compassion was the first beat of a heart that would later fuel her through hardships.ย

Admittedly, her academic path was not a straight line. She candidly shares the difficulties of being a self-professed emerging learner, seldom catching up in the fast-paced environment, and the profound setback of a failed first thesis, an experience she compares to a humbling descent to "the ninth circle of Dante's Hell." It was a period where she questioned her decisions, a critical case of self-doubt that required intense personal triage.

In a message to the graduates of the 3rd Midyear Commencement Exercises, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson commends the TAUians for their hard work, passion, and perseverance. He says the students and alumni are nurtured to be strong, versatile, and prepared, with achievements mirrored in the Universityโ€™s improved board exam results and graduate employment rates.ย

He underscores that TAUโ€™s mission reaches beyond campus through research and community development programs that support agricultural sustainability and community empowerment. He also announces plans for new facilities to strengthen a technology-driven learning environment and urges graduates to embody TAUโ€™s mission by serving communities with integrity and commitment.

In time for its 3rd Midyear Commencement Exercises, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) is upgrading program staging at its Gilberto O. Teodoro Multipurpose Center with a cutting-edge modular LED display system, designed to reduce environmental waste, cut costs, and enhance visual production for campus events.

The three-meter-by-eight-meter Modular Cascaded High-Definition Display System also features Dual-Environment Framework Assemblies and an Integrated Control Core. Its full package includes not only the modular display panels but also an outdoor mobile frame, a dedicated control and signal system, a long-range transmission hardware, a power stability and backup system, a server with AI processing capabilities, an audio interface, and proprietary control software.

According to TAUโ€™s Planning and Development Office (PDO), the high-definition display will drastically reduce, if not completely eliminate, the institutionโ€™s reliance on disposable tarpaulins, banners, and similar printed materials, which generate substantial post-event waste.ย

The move is also framed as a long-term austerity measure, eliminating recurring printing and mounting costs. The new system is expected to provide superior aesthetic quality and creative flexibility for performances and ceremonies.

Integrated to support the facility as a multifunctional venue for sports, academic programs, cultural events, and institutional functions, the system also serves as a strategic โ€œsmart campusโ€ enhancement that helps TAU promote an engaging campus life and position itself as an events hub accessible to stakeholders and partners.

A new cycle in the history of Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) unfolded in 2026 as the University community welcomed a significant influx of fresh talents and renewed promises. This expansion of TAUโ€™s core workforce reflects a strategic investment in its human capital, reinforcing the Universityโ€™s mission through merit-based and inclusive appointments. Selected from a highly competitive applicant and labor pool, the new appointees bring deep-seated motivation and sustained devotion to public service.

Among the 61 newly appointed and regularized personnel were several familiar faces whose formal induction further boosted TAUโ€™s academic and administrative pillars. Their appointments mark a notable transition, from years of provisional service to enduring partnership, one built on mutual respect and trust.

For nine years, Ms. Leslie Ann P. Rotoni served TAUโ€™s College of Education (CEd) as an Instructor I under a Contract of Service (COS) and Temporary status, a prolonged period of professional uncertainty that tested her resolve. A holder of a Master of Arts in Education (Physical Science), she remained committed to teaching, nurturing young minds while navigating the instability inherent in contractual employment.

Her greatest challenge was deeply personal, balancing her passion for teaching at TAU with the pull of lucrative opportunities abroad. This quiet struggle reflects the sacrifices made by many COS personnel like her who continue to serve while awaiting full institutional recognition. Now, as a newly regularized Instructor I, Ms. Rotoni stands on firmer ground, strengthened by the affirmation from both her superiors and colleagues.

โ€œI would like to express my sincere gratitude for the trust, support, and opportunity you [TAU] have given me,โ€ she shared. โ€œBeing promoted and supported by an organization that believes in my potential is something I truly value. I will work harder for our beloved TAU.โ€
