In a decisive step toward institutional modernization, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) conducted a Training on the Digitalization of the Time Monitoring System at the TAUโ€“Agritourism Hotel, 3 March 2026. The activity, spearheaded by the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for Administration through the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), underscores the Universityโ€™s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and accountability in public service.

Welcoming the participants, Vice-President for Finance and Administration, Dr. Arnold R. Lorenzo, emphasized the necessity of embracing innovation in todayโ€™s dynamic environment.โ€œChange is inevitable, and what we are undertaking today is an essential part of that transformation; therefore, we must learn to adapt to this digitalization.โ€ he affirmed, highlighting that digital transformation is no longer optional but essential in strengthening institutional systems.

TAU President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson delivered a message of inspiration, recounting his early years at the University when the initial waves of digitalization began to unfold. He stressed that the current initiative is a pivotal part of TAUโ€™s modernization agenda. Moreover, he underscored the importance of upholding the provisions of the Data Privacy Act of 2012, reminding employees to ensure responsible handling and protection of data as the University transitions to more technology-driven systems. Dr. Salunson likewise expressed his satisfaction at witnessing 100 percent employee participation, reflecting the collective commitment of the TAU community toward progress.

Following the opening messages, Ms. Kristine Rose O. De Vera formally presented the objectives of the training, setting the tone for a comprehensive and informative lecture proper.

Chief Administrative Officer for Administration, Ms. Yolanda F. Juan, served as the first presenter, providing an in-depth discussion on the salient provisions of the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and its direct relevance to the digitalization of the Universityโ€™s time monitoring processes. She emphasized that technological advancement must always be anchored on ethical responsibility and legal compliance.

Subsequently, Chief of the Human Resource Management Office, Ms. Maricel D. Felipe, discussed the Policies and Guidelines on the Use of the Biometric Time Monitoring System, clarifying procedures and reinforcing accountability mechanisms as part of TAUโ€™s employee monitoring initiatives.

In the afternoon session, Information Systems Analyst II Mr. Bryan B. Felix spearheaded the technical discussion, presenting an overview and step-by-step guide on the operation of the Biometric Time Monitoring System. Participants were oriented on the systemโ€™s functionalities, ensuring that all employees are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills for its proper utilization.

The whole-day training proved to be fruitful and productive, fostering a deeper understanding of digital systems, data protection, and operational efficiency. The activity formally concluded with closing remarks from CAO for Administration Ms. Yolanda F. Juan, who commended the participants for their active engagement and reaffirmed the Universityโ€™s commitment to continuous improvement.

Through initiatives such as this, TAU continues to advance toward a more responsive, transparent, and technology-driven institution solidifying its role as a forward-looking University dedicated to excellence in governance and public service.

Reinforcing its commitment to technological advancement and community engagement, the College of Engineering and Technology (CET) of Tarlac Agricultural University conducts a two-day Capacity Building Training-Workshop on Robotics for high school teachers of Gerona Western National High School on February 20 and 27, 2026. Spearheaded by CET Dean Dr. Ruben A. Parazo alongside selected faculty members, the extension initiative equips educators with foundational and applied knowledge in robotics, including basic electronics, programming, robot assembly, and classroom integration strategies. The hands-on sessions immerse participants in practical activities that translate theory into actual prototype development, ensuring that teachers gain both technical competence and instructional confidence.

The training highlights the vital role of robotics education in fostering critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and innovation among learners skills essential in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. By equipping teachers with updated expertise and practical tools, CET creates a ripple effect that strengthens STEM education at the secondary level and opens broader opportunities for students in engineering and technology.ย

Through this meaningful extension activity, TAU continues to bridge higher education and basic education institutions, advancing inclusive, community-centered development while championing excellence in science and technology.
