𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐒 | 𝐓𝐀𝐔 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐰𝐞𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫

From biodiversity conservation to climate change mitigation, forestry researchers from the College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) – Forestry Department of Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) bring science-driven environmental solutions to the forefront as they present innovative studies during the Scientific Webinar on Forest Science, Technology, and Innovation 2026 on May 12.

Hosted by the College of Forestry, Center for Geoinformatics, and Philippine Forestry Education Network, Inc., in collaboration with the DENR-ERDB Watershed and Water Resources Research Development and Extension Center and Tarlac Agricultural University, the webinar gathers forestry researchers, educators, and environmental advocates to discuss emerging innovations and scientific advancements in the forestry sector.

Representing the CAF – Forestry Department, Mr. Mark Anthony L. Bagsit presents his study titled “Heavy Metal Profiling and Hyperaccumulator Detection in Metallophytes as a Nature-Based Solution in Barangay Zabali, Baler, Aurora, Philippines,” which explores the potential of native plant species in addressing environmental contamination through ecological restoration strategies. Meanwhile, Mr. Julius Rae R. Allam shares his research, “Conservation of Order Lepidopteran (Butterfly) in Sitio Calao, San Jose, Tarlac – Forest Reserve,” emphasizing the importance of protecting butterfly populations as indicators of forest ecosystem health and biodiversity sustainability.

Adding to the roster of presenters is former Forestry Department faculty member Ms. Mileatte P. Omaney, who presents the study “Watershed Characterization for a Sustainable Framework in Mitigating Climate Change at TAU – Calao Forest Reserve, San Jose, Mayantoc, Tarlac.” Her research highlights the critical role of watershed assessment and forest resource management in strengthening climate change mitigation efforts.

Through its active participation in the scientific webinar, the CAF – Forestry Department continues to advance research-driven initiatives that contribute to environmental conservation, climate action, and the sustainable development of forest ecosystems.
