Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) distributes first-aid-essential โGo Bagsโ to all its employees this week which is still part of its observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), aligned with the national theme โUNITEd for a VAW-free Philippines.โ Led by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, the initiative advocates for a holistic view of safety that links disaster preparedness with protection from all forms of violence.
Each bright orange Go Bag is equipped with carefully selected items designed to support immediate survival, injury management, and safe evacuation during emergencies. Medical supplies include elastic bandages for injury support, swelling compression, and bleeding control; triangular bandages for immobilizing fractures or dislocations and creating slings; sterile gauze, cotton balls, and cotton buds for cleaning, dressing, and protecting wounds; and alcohol swabs and wipes for disinfection. Micropore tape is also included to securely hold wound dressings in place.
Each kit further contains essential tools that enhance safety and response in crisis situations. A flashlight provides critical illumination during power outages and evacuations, while a whistle enables individuals to signal for help when shouting is ineffective. Scissors support both first-aid and emergency response. Safety pins are included for securing bandages and slings. Face masks protection against dust and other potential contaminants during disasters.
