Recognizing TAUians from the bachelorโs to advanced degree levels, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) community formally conferred degrees on its newest graduates during the Midyear Commencement Exercises held at the Gilberto O. Teodoro Multipurpose Center on 9 January.ย
The ceremony opened with a formal academic procession of graduating students, members of the academic support services, faculty, the Administrative Council (AdCo), the Board of Regents (BOR), and guests, symbolizing the culmination of the graduatesโ academic journey. This was followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the Doxology rendered by the TAU Chorale, setting a solemn and dignified tone for the commencement rites.
Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA) Dr. Sonny DC. Torres delivered the welcome remarks, highlighting the enduring value of education amid prevailing socio-political challenges and emphasizing that knowledge equips graduates to discern truth, counter misinformation, and engage the world with clarity and purpose.
The presentation and confirmation of candidates followed, led by the Deans of TAUโs six colleges and formally confirmed by University President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Salunson. This segment signaled the graduatesโ readiness to be vested with their respective academic degrees.
Meanwhile, Guest of Honor and Speaker Hon. Dexter R. Buted, the Administrator of the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), delivered the keynote address. Dr. Buted reframed failure as an essential step toward growth and wisdom, urging graduates to learn from setbacks and to practice radical kindness as they pursue their professional and personal aspirations.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of diplomas, certificates, and academic awards, followed by the Pledge of Loyalty to the Alma Mater administered by loyalty awardee Mr. Aaron V. Bermudez and the Oath of Membership to the TAU Federated Alumni Association led by its President and TAUโs Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training (VPRET) Dr. Edmar N. Franquera.ย
Closing the program, the TAU Chorale performed the University Hymn, after which the recessional marked the graduatesโ formal transition from students to alumni.
