Solidifying its status as Tarlac Agricultural Universityβs (TAU) premier student tradition, the annual post-examination celebration, Ragsakan, drew a record-breaking crowd of more than 3,000 attendees on 16 December at the TAU Athletic Oval. This figure marks a significant 50-percent increase from the over 2,000 spectators recorded the previous year, underscoring the eventβs growing popularity among the student body.
Hosted by the Supreme Student Council (SSC) as part of TAUβs 86th Founding Anniversary, the event provided students with a much-needed respite following the rigors of first-semester final examinations. The massive turnout transformed the field into a sea of energy, sustained by a tightly packed and diverse lineup of performances throughout the night.
The program featured cultural presentations by the TAU Performing Guild (PG) and TAU Animusika, complemented by much-anticipated guest performances from a varied roster of artists. Bicolano singer-songwriter Jan Roberts, known for his emotionally charged anthems and viral hit βSagip,β delivered a stirring set. The tempo then surged with EDSA XXTRA, an acclaimed Filipino drag performer, winner of The Drag Cartel and a prominent advocate of queer pride, who commanded the stage with an electrifying routine. Headlining the evening was rising indie art-rock band Fitterkarma, whose dark, genre-blending sound, drawing inspiration from Philippine folklore and J-rock, captivated the massive audience.
Another major highlight of the night was the inter-collegiate Battle of the Bands, where Bandang Dulo emerged as champion. Tres Es Oro and Estrus Band secured first and second runner-up honors, respectively, in a highly competitive arena that also included From Ashes, Zion Avenue, and Vetamaxx.
SSC President Sean Nicole P. Chico lauded the success of the event. βAfter weeks of planning, we officially conducted and successfully concluded Ragsakan 2025,β she said while acknowledging the challenges of organizing a large-scale celebration and expressed her gratitude to the University administration and partner organizations. βSeeing the number of attendees rise this year compared to previous years reassured me that Ragsakan has truly become a long-standing tradition of TAU,β Ms. Chico added, emphasizing the Councilβs goal of giving students a memorable post-examination celebration.
The night concluded with a fireworks display, serving as a fitting finale to an event that has firmly established itself as a cornerstone of the TAU student experience.
