The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) through the TAU - Bulalayaw, hosted a Barbecue Party, an inclusive campus gathering that highlighted inclusivity among genders, on Monday, 15 December, in front of the Learning Resource Center - Library Building.
The student-led organization brought together students, faculty members, and non-teaching personnel in a shared space that promoted authenticity, respect, and belonging. The barbecue gathering combined food, music, and interactive activities aimed at fostering connection within the university community.
Dubbed as BBQueer, the event emphasized collective resilience and the importance of creating affirming spaces where individuals were encouraged to express themselves freely while engaging in meaningful social interaction.
โI am truly moved by how the TAU community showed up for our event. As part of the Inclusion Unit, I witnessed Panagduduma bring the TAU community together around food, music, and fireโan evening of shared stories that honored our cultural diversity as part of the Universityโs 80th Founding Anniversary,โ said Ms. Erika R. Prado, Chief of the Inclusion Unit and Supreme Student Council (SSC) adviser.
โI am sincerely grateful to our student partners, TAU Bulalayaw and the Supreme Student Council, who wholeheartedly volunteered their support and service. I am also thankful for everyone who joined the celebration, filling the space with laughter, long barbecue lines, and moments of attentive listening,โ she emphasized.
โAs voices rose by the bonfire to speak of belonging and inclusion, Panagduduma affirmed our shared hope for a TAU that remains a home where differences are seen, valued, and embraced,โ Ms. Prado added.
Meanwhile, participants enjoyed grilled food, campus-friendly games, and various activities, along with prizes prepared by the organizers. The event coincided with a bonfire, transforming the open space into a communal area designed for shared experiences and dialogue.
