To standardize the approach to managing emergency situations and strengthen the understanding of the Incident Command System (ICS), the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), through the collective efforts of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) and Gender and Development Office (GAD), and in collaboration with the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD), spearheaded the first Gender-Sensitive Executive Course on ICS for the Administrative Council (AdCo) members, representatives, and other officials at the AgriTourism Hostel Function Hall, 16 June.

The training, consisting of five modules, was facilitated by the OCD-designated training officials led by Mr. Angelo L. Simbol, Administrative Officer IV from the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila - Senior High School (SHS) Tarlac Campus; Mr. Gabriel Paulo Gorospe, Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) IV - Local Government Unit (LGU) Camiling; Engr. Eurico Yuzon from the Bataan Engineering Office; and Senior Fire Officer (SFO) I Fritz Perez from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Bacolor, Pampanga.

𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐒 | 𝐓𝐀𝐔 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐒𝐃𝐆 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, 𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐬 𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐮𝐳𝐨𝐧

Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) has demonstrated its community’s collective and consistent commitment to advancing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the recently released Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025, which evaluates institutional data from 2023. 

Among 2,318 ranked higher education institutions (HEIs), TAU secured its position, placing within the 1001-1500 range globally, 5th in the country, 2nd in Region III, and 1st in the Tarlac Province.

With an overall score of 55.7 and submitting data in all 17 SDGs, TAU performed strongest in SDG 5 Gender Equality (ranked 301-400, globally), SDG 2 Zero Hunger (401-600), SDG 1 No Poverty (601-800), and in the only required category, SDG 17 Partnership for the Goals (1,501+).

𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐈𝐍 𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐒 | Promoting eco-consciousness and gender equality, the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) distributes 600 colorful 1.2-liter tumblers to its employees. 

This initiative, led by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, encourages the campus community to reduce single-use plastic waste and remind its stakeholders of their responsibility as stewards of environment and inclusiveness.

In a continued effort to foster international academic collaboration and visibility,  the Tarlac Agricultural University’s OIC Director for External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA), Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel, served as one of the distinguished guest speakers during the Online International Seminar on Ethics and AI Trends in Future Education Transformation hosted by the Postgraduate Programs of Universitas Pancasakti (UPS) Tegal on 13 June.

The seminar, conducted via Zoom, brought together academic experts from Southeast Asia to further discuss the unfolding role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the educational landscape.

Dr. Villaruel, with a wide range of knowledge and contributions in the fields of ethics and educational innovation, highlighted the vital interplay between technological advancements and ethical leadership in forging a future-ready education.

The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) Office of External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA) is delighted to present this interview video of the four (4) students who studied at Canadian universities namely, Centennial College (CC) and Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU), from 6 January to 30 April for the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED). 

Said TAU students are Jermaine Clyde Reyes from the College of Business and Management (CBM) and Riza C. Baloto, Christian Kayrl F. Pascua, and Jan Patrick T. Sotero from the College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF).

Driven by their goal to empower academic staff through exposure to various agricultural innovations and sustainability practices, representatives from the College of Agriculture (CoAg) of Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) – Dingle Campus conducted their Field Immersion and Project Exposure at the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) on 9-11 June.

Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel, Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA), welcomed the ISUFST delegates spearheaded by Dr. Noli L. Gerona, Dean of CoAg, alongside nine faculty members.

Meanwhile, ISUFST officials led by its University President Dr. Nordy D. Siason, along with Dr. Joan M. Belga, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Johny B. Dolor, Vice President for Administration and Finance; and Dr. Janette G. Bayona, Director for Advancement and Linkages, joined the program virtually.

𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐒 | DENR Central Luzon honors TAU for Environmental Stewardship

“Recognizing Partners for Sustainability and Progress for a Greener Future,” the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region III awarded Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) a Plaque of Recognition for its environmental governance, sustainable development, and ecological protection in a ceremony at the DENR Social Hall, City of San Fernando, Pampanga, on 19 June.

Coinciding with the Philippine Environment Month, which carries this year’s theme: “Ending Global Plastic Pollution,” the Gawad Kalikasan acknowledged TAU for its sustainable initiatives, including research on eco-friendly agricultural practices, reforestation efforts, and community-based ecological projects.

Gawad Kalikasan is an annual recognition ceremony that highlights the contributions of outstanding partners and stakeholders who have played a pivotal role in advancing DENR’s environmental programs and advocacies.
