Energy, enthusiasm, and empowerment filled the air as the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) of Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) celebrated the 2nd Day of CAS Week on 12 February 2026 with activities that truly ignited the spirit of the Orange Phoenix.

The day started with a bang as CAS students gathered in front of the TAU-Administration Building for an electrifying Zumba session, setting the rhythm for a vibrant morning. Pumped with energy and unified in movement, the students then took on the much-anticipated Obstacle Fun Run around the vicinity of the university. Laughter echoed across the campus as participants leaped, raced, and conquered each challenge proving that resilience and teamwork go hand in hand.

Adding more thrill and excitement to the run, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP),ย  Camiling, Tarlac joined the celebration by showering the students with refreshing bursts of water along the route. The surprise splash not only cooled down the runners under the morning sun but also amplified the fun-filled atmosphere turning the activity into a campus-wide celebration of energy and joy.

After the exhilarating run, participants were treated to a free breakfast, a simple yet meaningful gesture that nourished not only the body but also the bonds among students and faculty.

The celebration continued at the CAS Grounds with the conduct of AGNI-CAS, a team-building activity designed to strengthen camaraderie among the Orange Phoenix. True to its name, AGNI sparked unity, collaboration, and trust highlighting the dynamic synergy among CAS students. The activity stood as a testament to the collegeโ€™s strong sense of community, where differences are embraced and collective strength is celebrated.

On the runway, every step is calculated and every second is earned. For Benjamin V. Pascasio, the long and triple jump events arenโ€™t simply data points measured in meters; they are a ritual of discipline crafted over years of practice, patience, and determination.ย

A fourth-year student from the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) taking a BS Agriculture major in Agronomy, proves that the distance he conquers on the sand starts long before his feet ever leave the ground.

At 23, Mr. Pascasio balanced the physical toll of long and triple jump with the academic demands of his degree. His journey into athletics began not with grand ambition but with encouragement from friends during his junior high school years.

He focused on long jump and triple jump events from ninth grade through high school. As he entered college, he decided not to quit doing it either. His initial curiosity eventually evolved into a more serious commitment as he realized both his strength and enjoyment for it.

According to Mr. Pascasio, long jump and triple jump require not just speed and power, but even more than what an individual can offer. The hardest part for Mr. Pascasio to deal with is to remain a self-disciplined individual. The training is hard, and injuries are lurking as a threat. By choosing this route, he had to make a lot of sacrifices by staying consistent and practicing patience, especially when his body was pushed to its limits.

โ€œAng unang pinaka challenging sa akin ay iyong self discipline dahil hindi naman basta basta ang pagpili ng ganitong sport. Bukod dito ay ang mahirap na training dahil minsan nagkakaroon ng injuries,โ€ he wrote.

Mental preparation, as he explains, is an activity that begins well before he competes. Being smart about training is a necessity. He believes in healthy meals and rest knowing that it helps on the track.

During the event, the students engaged in the following undertakings: Battle of Cheers, representing each department in a yell competition; CAS Concerto, showcasing the mesmerizing voices of CAS students; Teatro sa CAS, providing a platform for theatrical expression; Dance Competition, drawing large crowds into a synchronized routines; and Gawad Parangal, that honors learners for their contributions to the college.

In addition, Dr. Sonny DC. Torres, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA), graced the activity and encouraged the students, faculty members, and staff to appreciate the spirit of camaraderie that makes CAS not just a college, but a community.

โ€œTo our beloved CAS family, on this day, we not only celebrate what has grown to become our biggest CAS Week in history, but also celebrate our instructors who made us who we are today: the College to Beat. Despite the enormous task and responsibility to impart knowledge and skills in all fields, they far surpassed our Performance Indicator and proved to the world that perfection has no bounds. Let this week not only be a celebration, but let us also attempt to unearth the potential in every one of us. Find happiness in all forms today and welcome to the most spectacular CAS Week in history,โ€ he shared.

Subsequently, the CAS Dean Dr. Sherwin S. Alar also shared a message represented by CAS Assistant Dean, Dr. Esmeralda P. Rodriguez while the University President Dr. Silverio Ramon DC. Dr. Marianne P. Villaruel, Director of External Linkages and International Affairs (ELIA) of Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) engaged in a purposeful meeting with Professor Jeffrey Sachs, President of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) at De La Salle University (DLSU), Manila on January 21, 2026.

This collaboration meeting highlighted ELIAโ€™s mission to advance sustainable frameworks to support TAUโ€™s mission to contribute in advancing the United Nationsโ€™ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in the Philippines and the ASEAN region and its mandate to provide quality education. This was made possible by the collaborative discussion that provided a valuable opportunity to align institutional, national, and regional initiatives with global sustainable development frameworks and strengthen international collaboration.

The Sustainable Development Solutions Networkโ€™s (SDSN) purpose is to mobilize a massive network of universities, research centers, and technical experts to champion the SDGs through evidence-based problem solving. In line with its purpose, SDSN Philippines can help TAU in ensuring that the Universityโ€™s agricultural perspectives are heard at the highest level of policy discussion.
